6 more days in the book: 415 minutes, 9,121 calories, 29.78 miles (just missed the 30-mile mark)

Last 6 weeks: 2,469 minutes, 52,808 calories, 173.56 miles. (about 140 of those at 4.2/15-incline)

The difficult part is on days like today when you're traveling. In Penn Station and there's basically junk foods. I want doughnuts. Instead I'm choosing the right thing. The right thing sucks.

The grapes are the worst part of that snack box. With any other grapes it might be OK, but those are the absolute worst grapes, the kind that get put in fruit cocktail to mask how bad they are. Carrots and hummus look OK, though.

I ate everything but the chips. An hour later the bloodsugar is 157 which is a good sign for when I do the next draw an hour from now.

So for the next few weeks, I am trying to get my body to the point that turning 26 consecutive 7:14 miles will feel comfortable. Today I did a 3 x 3 miles workout, with three minutes of rest in between the intervals.

Did the three at these paces:

    1st three miles - 6:31
    (Rest)
    2nd - 6:41
    (Rest)
    3rd - 7:09

Fairly brutal, but also a hell of a lot more engaging than just going out there and slapping your feet on the pavement for two to three hours, though that's necessary, too.

    Day 70
Pushups: 29-25-16. High-water mark for uninterrupted pushups.
    Squats: 35-35
Situps: None. As they have piled up, my core has been feeling funny strange, not funny ha-ha. Just a little twinge, especially when I get up from sitting on the couch or in a chair or out of bed. Except for the fat covering it, my stomach — including solar plexus — is as hard as a rock, so I reckon I don't need to do them every day. Maybe more like every third, fourth or fifth day.

Obviously it's been more than 70 days since I started on Jan. 10. The days I've taken off have been more numerous lately because my shoulders are feeling the strain of all these pushup piling up, 2,485 as of today — which means that I'll do more than half of the 5,050 total in the next three sets 0f 70s, 80s and 90s. Woo-hoo?

Aren't situps not that useful and potentially harmful? Probably do more good making sure you suck in your stomach when doing pushups and doing leans or whatever that exercise is called.

If you pull on your head doing situps it's bad for your neck and back, crunches are probably better with feet off the floor.

Any NYC experts here? On Sunday I walked roughly 55 avenues (east-west) and probably 15-20 blocks (north-south).

Any idea about how many miles that is?

    20 short blocks = 1 mile

Avenues are tougher because they're all different.

But the average is about 750 feet.

    x 55 = 41,250 feet

    or about 7. 8 miles.

    + 1 mile

    +/- 8.8 miles total

Never set foot in the place!

On another note: 18 miles today at a 7:14 pace, which is the marathon goal. A little harder than I'd like it to have been, but I'll chalk that up to accumulated fatigue right now.

I apologize for the frequent minutia. I am burning off a little nervous energy.
