It's okay, cancer will still be there.

I'm now trying to get the pink ones, for breast cancer--$5 each, also back ordered.

Well, you're just a ray of bitter sunshine tonight! :D

How long before everybody latches on to the idea and we all have colored rubber bands up to our elbows?

I tell you, these retired pros get bored in retirement...

On Saturday, Pat La(LaLaLaLaLaLa)Fontaine finished Ironman Florida in a shade over 13 hours. On Sunday, joining Kristen Armstrong at the finish line of the NYC Marathon were Timothy Sumners (Sting's son) and 1983 French Open champ Yannick Noah in 3:33. Not sure if Noah has cut his hair, though.

    More on LaFontaine...

21 ... yes and no to this, just in my opinion.

You don't want to eat a heavy meal before working out, but you also don't want to go into a workout hungry. I've done this before, and I've flat out died in the middle of the cardio at the end of my workout, to the point where I had so little energy that I really mailed it the last 10 minutes or so.

Eat a little something ... protein, light carbs for energy, etc., before working out. If you have the time to eat it an hour prior to the workout, great. But sometimes - like today - you have give yourself a little kick. If I hadn't eaten a cup of yogurt before the workout, I wouldn't have made it through. As it happened, I had one of my better workouts in a while because I did eat something and had tons of energy.

Wholeheartedly agree with you on the eating after a workout, unless it's a protein shake.

Hokie, I agree completely...I've said that many times on this thread. In this case, Clubber said he liked to eat dinner, then workout, which is a disaster in terms of what you're burning. That was why I said 'no' to eating before a workout.

But I agree, putting something LOW CARB in the tank will extend your workout and keep you from doing a face plant on the mat.

Immediately after a workout, it's important to get some protein and simple carbs to replenish your system and feed your muscles. A protein drink is the best thing for this.

And, as I've been told, wait about an hour after that to eat a meal, one with protein and good carbs (like potatoes).

    Well, I'm trying:

I eat fast food every night for dinner at work...

Today, I spent a bunch of money on groceries. My dinner tonight...a sliced up red bell pepper, raw mushrooms, onions and grape tomatoes, and some sliced chicken breast with, yes, a non-fat-free Italian dressing.

Not bad, although I'm sure the dressing is breaking some rule.

And yes, with the bell pepper, I'm doing my own healthy food crunching -- something I complained about here a couple of weeks ago -- at my desk.

What the hell is a muchroom? :D

If you want to destroy your diet, Hardee's just came up with a burger that has 1,400 calories and 107 grams of fat.

Hotels often have gyms / health clubs in them.

And it's easy enough to just jog outside for 20 minutes.

Or to do jumping jacks, pushups and stomach crunches inside.

My bride-to-be and I have signed up for a half-marathon in May. This comes after beginning running in April and doing three 5Ks so far.

The training will be more intense but I look forward to the challenge.

I've lost about 35 pounds since I started running -- a little lifting, but almost all running. I weigh less than I did as a high school junior ... have battled small weight problems since adolescence, never had that could-eat-anything metabolism ... now my formerly skinny friends are packing on weight and I'm in the best shape of my life ... guess it evens out ...

That's a great story - good luck. Let us know how the half marathon goes.
