Now that the weather has finally turned to nice mode out this way, I've finally been able to resume my daily bike rides (though a 10-hour work day yesterday derailed that plan). After going about 18 miles on Tuesday, I felt better and more invigorated than I had in a long time.

How are y'all doing with your fitness?

I'm stilling lingering around 205, which is 15 pounds below what was my target weight. Doing lots of cardio, some weightlifting. I feel great.

Thanks again to all the peops who helped me get off my ass in Jan. 2004.

    Starman ... you're the inspiration.

While Starman is Pasy's inspiration, Pasy is mine. Dude got me off my ass yesterday and I hope to continue working out now.

congrats Pasy on the weight loss

    To resurrect this monster:

My excuses for not working out are starting to wear thin in my mind. And last week, I finally got the kick in the ass I needed when I went for a run. It was much, much, much more difficult than it should have been. Quite humbling, actually. I'm not in this shit for the vanity (and I won't be until I stop drinking beer, but here's the thing, I like beer). I just want to feel healthy. So it's time to make exercise a regular part of my routine again, even if it's just a light 30 minute lift here, a 45-minute walk after work there.

Studies have shown that housework burns calories. Thirty a minutes a day.

And the great thing is you can do it while drinking beer.

Idaho being the Grand Master and all, maybe he should stick this thread for a while.

Maybe if there is enough interest in this thread and Idaho's new one, the powers that be would consider a separate board for health/lifestyle/fitness posts. I doubt there would be pages and pages, but you wouldn't have to go hunting for them either.

I have a hunch most people would be against it, but it wouldn't cause much clutter, and you'd know exactly where to go for this type of stuff.

    Just a thought.

I did it. I joined a gym after a year away. I ballooned up to 258, even though friends say "258?! I can't see it." I guess I wear the weight well, but I definitely feel the weight: I barely can reach down to tie my shoes without grunting.

I joined a 24-hour place yesterday. It's close to work, so there's no excuse not to go. My goal is to get down to 210. I have a goal. I never have a goal. I live sans goals. Let this be my first one in many years; OK, I made it a point to win best sports section in the state this year, and I won; but that was pretty simple. I don't think I've had a personal goal ever.

Yesterday was my first day of working out in a year. It felt pretty good, but I definitely felt the weight jiggling and rolling like ocean waves, like when Homer Simpson gets on the treadmill and is tested by Mulder and Scully.

MULDER: "His jiggling is almost hypnotic."
SCULLY: "Yes. It's like a lava lamp."

That's how I felt yesterday. Now the journey to 210 begins. The working out isn't the tough part. Eating correctly is.

    Next update: 30 days.
