Yeah, yesterday I didn't wake up until 3:30. So I ate when I got to work. Sorry for the confusion.

I haven't bought eggs yet because I don't wake up early enough before work to make them. I know I should hard-boil some and have them in the fridge to grab on the way.

And my protein bar is 5g fiber, 170 calories. So it's not one of the big manly man ones.

Not really arguing with you about this, because I have seen the study that showed that people who drink diet drinks are on average fatter than those who don't, because (this what the guess) your body takes it clues from taste, and when you teach it that sweetness is no longer associated with calories, it abandons sweetness as a clue for regulating how much you eat.

But I am addicted to the diet Arizona green tea, which has Splenda (Windex Light?) in it, and I manage my weight fine. Calories make you fat. So if you drink diet drinks and don't overeat, you are not going to get fat. It's that simple.

The health risks are a different question. Drinking that stuff is the most potentially harmful thing I do to myself. I'd drink the stuff all day long if I didn't regulate it at all, but I mix water in instead (Fiji water is the second greatest liquid on earth). I should probably wean myself off.

ragu, if that's the most dangerous thing you do to yourself (not including fighting construction workers) then you're fine. even if the tea has some bad qualities, no one's perfect.

whenever i hear about people who never put any impurities in their body, it sounds like a miserable existence. for the most part, i eat healthy and i work out regularly. but i love food. occasionally i'll eat pepperoni fucking pizza. i'll eat full-fat ice cream every now and then. i'll eat some fucking potato chips once or twice a month. very rarely, i'll eat fried fucking chicken, too!

I don't advocated the frequent use of diet sodas. Still, if you use them sparingly as a way to get off sugar colas ... I don't see the harm in that. Everything has negative side effects. Even sex.

Yeah but is Windex less fattening? Cause, you know, I could get used to that instead of Pepsi, if I had to.

I know you know it isn't that simple. If, for example, you have an intolerance for insulin--common among many women--you're not going to lose weight if your body thinks you're getting sugar. You can also drink sodas all day, eat nothing, and still not lose weight because your body is going to shut down your metabolism to conserve energy and nutrients.

Look, everyone should eat whatever makes them happy....but when people say they want to lose weight but can't, you gotta look at the reasons. Diet and nutrition is just a chemistry equation, there are no tricks. That's why Weight Watchers works for a lot of people--it's just balanced eating, nothing weird or dramatic.

Eating at home makes such a huge difference for me, nutrition-wise. I try most nights to eat dinner at home when I'm not traveling instead of going out. I can control my portions. I can prepare something that's quick and healthy. That's a big deal at lunch, too. I rarely eat lunch out. I have the same boring turkey and swiss on whole wheat every day, but I know I'm eating something that's reasonably good for me instead of going to Wendy's or whatever.

Down in my queue of books to read -- next after I get done reading my friend's book -- is Fast Food Nation by Eric Schlosser. It looks like it'll be a pretty interesting (and damning) read on the fast food industry ...

I drink way too much diet soda. I know it, but I figure between that and the sugared soft drinks it's the lesser of two evils. And everyone's got to have at least one vice.
A few months ago, when I was buying a soda, the clerk, who stepped inside from a smoke break to ring me up, told me the soda was bad for me.
I'm not going to bother pointing out the irony.

Look at the bright side -- your body is filled with a powerful antitoxin and you won't streak.

Oh man. I spaced and seeing you post made me think of it. I drink coffee, too. Every morning.

I would suggest some veggies. A salad with your lean cuisine meal instead of the south Beach bar. Or some carrot sticks or celery instead of the baked Lays.
