See, this is what bugs me about WW (and I know it works, but it still bugs me): you just don't need that toasted baguette.

So do it without. I'd never buy a baguette, so I'd do it without.

I did have two slices of whole wheat french toast with some fat-free, calorie-free Parkay spray for my snack. :p

Question: my trainer tells me I need to get 210-250 minutes of cardio a week, but it doesn't matter how. 7 days, 30 minutes each? 5 days, 45 minutes each? 4 days, 60 minutes each? Doesn't matter. Is there a preferred way, as far as what you guys have seen? I know you should let your muscles rest when doing weights, but for cardio, is it better to go every day, but not for long? Or to do it four times a week, but do it for an hour so you get to burn the good stuff?

Guess it depends on your schedule, IJAG. Fits my schedule to go 2-3 times a week and work out for an hour to an hour 1/2. Plus, when I workout like that, my body really feels it. I just cannot commit - as much as I try - 6 days a week at 30 minutes each.

Yeah, that doesn't matter to me. My gym is 24 hours, so I can find a time to go each day if that's going to do my body better.

I'm more asking which version is more beneficial.

3 days on, one day off, 2 days on, one day off, 3 days, etc. ...

    That's definitely doable, Xan. Thanks!

I'm on the 2 p.m. workout routine. If I wake up before 2 p.m., I have tme to work out. If not, I don't. I end up working out about four times a week (5 if you count the mini-workouts of push-ups and sit-ups I do at night about once a week). My problem is that I eat so much late when my metabolism is at its slowest.

The real important question: How long will it take before the Jan. 2 gym crowd -- no one starts Jan. 1, they're always nursing hangovers -- filters out?

Gym has been nuts recently. If I go any time from 4 p.m. on, the place is more packed than usual. Seeing as I start work at 5, it can be a pain...

    Bronzed Salmon

skin salmon (or have fish guy do it for you)
heat 1/4-1/2 teaspoon olive oil in skillet at medium heat
sprinkle Paul Prudhomme's Seafood Seasoning on both sides of salmon and cook about 5 minutes each side

anything with balsamic vinegar in it goes great with this- i like to slice tomatoes and cover with fresh basil and balsamic vinegar

In some cases it can take until the end of January before those newbies start giving up on their resolutions.

    My favorite recipe for salmon..

Put about 2 tablespoons of olive oil on a medium-sized plate and tilt the plate so it gets spread over the entre plate. Add garlic powder, oregano, basil, a dash of salt, and a dash of pepper to the olive oil. Take a piece of salmon (about 6 oz.) and rub it on the plate so the mixture covers the piece (both sides if skinless, just the one side if the skin is still on it). Pour about 2 tablespoons of teriyaki (or soy) sauce onto the salmon so the teriyaki gets on most of or all of the piece, with just a little bit rolling down the side.
Let it sit in the refrigerator for 30 minutes or more to marinate. Put on the Hamilton Beach countertop grill (or George Foreman grill if you prefer) and let it grill for five minutes. If it has skin, the skin will peel right off after those five minutes.

For chicken, similar recipe except that I add a little bit of chili powder, use Paul Poundhomme's California Sundried Tomato marinade instead of the teriyaki/soy sauce, and sometimes I'll add just a little bit of honey right before grilling for five minutes.

Took a 45 minute cycle exercise class at my gym. My first time in one of those classes. They said "beginners welcome" 10-15 minutes in I was thinking "beginners welcome my ass". Somehow I made it through the class. With no readouts on the cycles I have no idea how far I rode, but with all the standing up, sitting down, and tension changes my legs were killing me after class, and my legs are usually fine after 40-45 minutes on the elipitical.
