Taking a vacation from the board: Why?

This rings kind of hollow when actual behavior is considered.

Critical and being a dick are two seperate categories.

Your post at 04:40:19 PM falls into one, and I find a hard time understanding how it is critical.

God I miss the night shift. I think it was IJAG that once referred to Sunday evenings as "appointment posting."

 

There were multiple night crews. The first one was just a rollicking good time because it was the only one I was ever really a part of. (of which I was ever a part). Just ... amazing creativity and turns of phrase. I loved so many people here based solely on those nights.

But it's so different now. It's like BYH said, it's stunning it was that long ago. God, I'm a looooser.

God, that just made me smile for the first time in a long time.

You will never understand how much I needed that.

 

Except for a week a few years ago when I was on vacation and had no access to a computer, I've been here without a break for more than eight years. My posting is a lot more infrequent than it was; real life is just a lot busier now (I suspect that was also a big reason the night crew eventually faded away; as time goes on, real life gets busier for everybody).

But even when I don't post, I take in the excellent reading here that can sometimes be mini-literature. And in the case of many locked threads and killed threads, great theater of the absurd. Just keep things in perspective (and that wasn't always easy), stay away from what doesn't interest you or who doesn't interest you, and there's no reason to get worked up.

 

Maybe the board needs a vacation, especially the Sports and News section.
