Taking a vacation from the board: Why?

    Why?

I personally think most of the threads get locked pretty prematurely. The Sports and News board here is about the most intelligent, articulate, civil discourse on current events you will find on the Internet.

I think this meme is overblown. Everyone freaks out about printdust and CarltonBanks, but those guys are totally harmless. No thread should ever be locked over their shenanigans.

The stroll down memory lane is a lot more enjoyable than overanalysis of the way the board is currently run.

I know I said a little about this earlier in the thread, but I remember it like it was yesterday and it was July 2003. We were shredding Monday and I went to the movies and came back and had 17 PMs. (The most new ones I've ever had at one time...) and the first one is from her and it says...
"I'm so going to fucking kill you."

    The second one...

"I can find out who you are. You're so dead."

    The third one...

"Why are you doing this to me?"

I think 14 of them were from her. Two were from HB begging me to call off the dogs and one was from Clubber egging me on.

I remember loving that thread so much because 21, who I hated at the time, were both teeing off on her. I remember thinking, "Holy shit, even she agrees with me."

For the record, 21, and Boom for that matter, are two of my favorite people on the board now.

Mizzou once told me I was one of the good ones on the board. That may be the highlight of my time here. That, or meeting my wife. It's a toss-up.

I'm sure the moderators appreciate your input on how they should do their job.

In the October one, I had started a thread called "A Nation of Mrs. Robinsons." The more things change...

And who is that flaghokie guy?

I think it is probably valuable for them to hear from a poster how some of the posts they are probably most concerned about are actually received by at least one person, not that I speak for everybody.

That was before you became a Jay Cutler fan. :D

You're one of the good ones. Especially with a couple slices of pineapple.

Hey, what's the current vibe on self-celebratory posting milestone recognitions? I think I celebrated #69 (it was about Barry Bonds) and #1000 (it was a poem or a limerick, can't recall). Just noticed I'm near 21,000, seems like a lucky number for me, maybe I'll bring in some pizzas or something.
