Tariffs on paper will hurt us

    It would be an interesting exercise to see exactly how the Times decided this was the right financial move. There was a point a couple of years ago when new audited circulation rules allowed them to count TBT's daily circulation (roughly 80,000, if memory serves) as part of the larger paper's daily circulation.

    What cutting TBT to weekly status tells me - perhaps incorrectly - is that the extra circulation (in terms of higher ad rates for the flagship) and ad revenue (unique to the tab) weren't going to offset the increase in the price of newsprint.

    It's fascinating ... from a distance.
