I never made that contention, Dick.

    Yes, you did.

A college kid wearing a jacket that says "Fuck the draft" is protected, but a teacher posting something on their personal Facebook page, on their own time using their own equipment, is not?

I am in line with all the landmarks...speech should be free. If some moron wants to burn a flag he should be able to. If some idiot wants to give a long, rambling speech about the negatives of Christianity...he has that right. Patrick Henry (I think) had the best quote..."I may not agree with what you sau, but I will defend to the death your right to say it." Speech only harms people that let it harm them.

As I have stated, I was asking that question. Did the person I was responding to think a kid wearing a "Fuck the draft" patch was protected while the teacher was not. Again, see that little half-circle thing with the dot under it at the end of the post??? That is a question mark, indicative of a question being asked...not of a statement of fact or opinion being made. Do you understand this yet or do I have to further explain questions, their use and how to identify them?

When I challenged your "question," you told me to go "brush up" on my First Amendment cases.

Buell coulda used something like this:

In fact, his local school board's 'ethics code' reportedly has guidelines for social media use.

Carlton, the best advice I can give you when it comes to proclamations like this latest one - and there have been man in your posting history - is that whenever Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Michael Savage, or some right-wing blog makes an analogy that sounds too good to be true, or states a fact that sounds good to be true (ex. "Nobody Barack Obama went to Harvard Law School with has ever been interviewed."), you should independently verify it or apply some of your own critical thinking.

Because your current method - posting it here authoritatively - more often than not gets your lunch eaten.

Excuse me? What the fuck are you talking about? I posed a question to another poster...not my fault you are too simplistic to look at things like context, tone and punctuation. It was clearly a question...must have been over your head. And I would LOVE to see you actually back up your statement about parrotting conservative talking heads on here. Give me, heck, five instances. Should be relatively easy.

And, seriously, if you can't figure out the difference between a question and opinion I do not know if you can be helped. How's this, when I post something on the same thread as you I will try to dumb it down for you to make it easier for you to understand? Will that help?

    (1) No one from Harvard Law School has ever been interviewed about Barack Obama.
    (2) No one from Columbia University has ever been interviewed about Barack Obama.
    (3) No one has written a story about Barack Obama like Ryan Lizza wrote about Michele Bachmann.

There are three right off the top of my head. Do you really want me to keep going?

Here is what you said when I asked you how Cohen was more protected than the teacher:

"(H)is arrest was overturned. He suffered no consequences. This teacher hasn't, either, but some on these boards are saying that he should."

You have since tried to reframe your statement, but it is quite clear, as originally stated and via your replies to challenges, your "question" was implying that the teacher was being punished while Cohen was not.
