I suspect you watch Fox News and have at least at some point listened to Michael Savage, Rush Limbaugh, or Sean Hannity. I suspect you at least know of The Weekly Standard. I suspect you may have heard of the Wall Street Journal.

I am not following your argument. You offer no specifics. You only say that, generally, conservatives are "attacked." Do they not "attack" back? There's an entire media industry devoted to serving as the conservative attack dog on liberal ideas.

I don't believe you are this clueless. I do believe that you are gleefully repeating a talking point you hear from a lot of these sources. Do better.

  3. I've heard of the Wall Street Journal, but I don't read it, nor do I get information from any of those other sources. I don't trust Fox News. I can't remember the last time I listened to Hannity, I've never heard of Savage and I think Rush Limbaugh is a disgrace to the conservative cause. Plus, there's nothing gleeful about this. This is honestly quite depressing for me.

I honestly never see anyone get ripped for supporting gay marriage. Case in point: When Michael Strahan came out for New York's approval of gay marriage, I never read or heard a word that didn't applaud him for his stance. If it happened, I don't know about it. Conversely, when David Tyree took the opposite position, I never saw a single thing supporting him. Everything I saw tore him to shreds.

Observations are part of what we do in journalism, and that's what I've observed. Maybe you see different things, but everything I see says that we've got a right to our opinion on gay marriage--but only if we support it.

You can oppose gay marriage all you want. If you avoid words like vomit and cesspool and references to God being mocked, I am sure you can have a lovely and civil conversation and avoid any unpleasantness.

As I tell my kids all the time, it's all in how you say it.

What's more: Who gives a shit?

You say something controversial about a hot-button issue, particularly when the nation is pretty evenly divided on the issue, you probably can expect to receive some response from the other side. You may call it an "attack." It's also known as political discourse. Has the right never unloaded on someone who is a pro-choice candidate? Has the right never unloaded on a politician for statements against gun ownership rights? Hell, the NRA issues a report card on candidates. It gives plenty of them "F's."

Man up already. I've said it before on here and I'll say it again: When the religious right decided to enter the political fray, it chose to accept everything that comes with that decision. You want to influence legislation? Fine. But you better be aware that there's going to be a push back when there isn't a consensus. You don't get special dispensation to recommend legislation without criticism, just because you read your Bible.

Who is taking away your "right" to say whatever you damned well please about gay marriage, Sarah Palin?

There's a book called "What Liberal Media" that talks about how often wingnuts like Ann Coulter are paraded around on television to spout their rhetoric compared to liberals. It isn't even close.

    It's all in the delivery.

I've yet to see crimsonace get a thread shut down for his opposition to gay marriage, and I doubt that I will.

  10. You would think. It's often not the case.

  11. No, this place probably will not do that. But several others would.

I am just wondering if you are making the contention that the mainstream media does not have a liberal bias. We're talking about ABC, NBC and CBS...as well as the New York Times and Washington Post.
