The above, in the context of this thread, reminds me what I hate about the "debate" of serious issues. We don't live in a world of theories. We live in a world of experience. And whether that experience consists of indescribable joy or unexplained tragedy, there is nothing more real to the persons involved, no matter the opposing theory or mountains of evidence to support it. There are certain issues where experience makes all the difference. I may disagree, even vehemently, with someone's take on a big issue. But if their belief is shaped by intense personal experience, I have to respect it.

But he did interview the black candidate before deciding not to support him!

Waylon is an author, a law school student and a former big-time beat writer. When you accomplish one of those three--and I know you haven't, so spare me how you once asked a question of Tiger Woods or Bobby Bowden--you can talk to him about "rookie mistakes." In the meantime, thank you for painting such an accurate portrayal of yourself on this thread. Arrogant and intolerant and so challenged in any debate setting that he has to resort to trying to correct someone's grammar to "gain" an "advantage."

I don't care that Tebow is a Christian, but I am tired of him, I'll admit. I also didn't like reading a Sports Illustrated article where Bob Tebow referred to people who had abortions as murderers. Tebow's a football player, who cares what his daddy thinks about women choosing to have or not have a baby? My problem with his Christianity is that he's somehow heralded as a moral superhero because of it. There's tons of players who volunteer and stay out of trouble (Myron Rolle), but they don't wear Bible verses in the eye black, so who cares?

Also, the Focus on Family paid $2.4 million for this ad space. Couldn't money coming from Christians be more wisely spent feeding hungry babies, or helping out in Haiti?

As far as the religious argument goes, I'm always bothered by people who say something like "God was looking out for us" when they avert disaster. It seems so self-involved. Like what, did God like them better than those who didn't survive? I really hate when someone says that.

    No, I don't believe we've met. ;)

What the fuck kind of stupid question is that?

Of course I do and guess what, they aren't going to heaven unless they change their ways, too.....

I don't know, is JR really equating people who fight to keep some semblence of morals and values in the American way of life to the mafia?

And I'm not afraid of tolerance and diversity, in fact, I embrace both.

What is ridiculous, however, is certain groups who believe they've cornered the market on diversity and tolerance and believe they get to dictate how to define the words and what forms of bigotry and intolerance are OK and what forms of it aren't.

Having a problem with bigots is not bigotry. I think that's where you are getting confused, Zag.

Blanket labeling of people who have certain religious convictions is bigotry. Mocking people for their religious convictions is bigotry. Mocking the deity of a certain religion is bigotry.

And people like you, who constantly whine about anti-semitism and anti-muslim sentiments all the time yet have no problem piling on when Christianity is in the cross hairs, are the worst kind of hypocrites.

Now find an example of me piling on Christianity. That should be interesting. And no, arguing for the separation of church and state does not count.
