FWIW - I don't get the impression the team responds to Weis any more. They play like a team that gets yelled at so often their confidence is shot, or it just doesn't motivate them anymore, they don't enjoy playing the game and are somewhat indifferent to his fate.

I'll bet he's back with the Patriots next season.

If certain monied alums hate him sufficiently, he could be bought out.

Otherwise, look for the Fat Man on the sidelines in next season's South Bend
opener against the fabled program known as Nevada-Reno.

I wonder if he even wants to come back.

Oh, no kidding... But he might be willing to walk if they offered him a truckload of money to do so, which is what I think will eventually happen.

Looking at the 09 schedule sure looks like it has more than a few job-killing games. Nevada isn't a big name, but they gave Boise a game last week. Better water that field down and let the grass grow a bunch. And who knows with Washington, a new coach could jump start that program.

So when Charlie gets fired in 2 weeks after a 48-0 loss to USC, where does he end up?

    Cincinatti? The NFL? The Sizzler?

He'll be back in New England.

Weird to say, but looking at the program's record, I think ND might have made its biggest mistake getting rid of Bob Davie. I think they'd take 8-4 every year about now.

I know NU is heading the right direction, but I'm guessing Frank Solich is remembered a little more fondly there after the last couple seasons.

I realize football programs need a sense of "momentum" but there are a number of programs who made some really stupid firings, Arizona and Dick Tomey, Syracuse and Pasquiloni, Texas A&M with both Franchione and Slocum; and whateverit was that happened to Nutt at Arkansas.
