yeah they do run the 4 wides sets but its not a true spread.

their run plays do not compliment their wide sets.

    Stop with the arrogance bs.

    Bob Stoops?
    Pete Carroll?
    Urban Meyer?

An arrogant major college football coach is the norm. Somebody like Mack Brown is the exception.

That's why the Pryor anecdote isnt nearly strong enough to carry this type of column.

Only time I got to see ND in person was the SDSU game, and their offense was crazy-bad. I can't remember specific examples right now but I recall at the time watching and thinking they could have rushed for 100 yards easy if they just used a fullback instead of the single-back set. They were controlling the line but couldn't get any blocking at the second level, so there was always an LB waiting. It's harder to tell on TV, of course, but it looks like their biggest problem is they can't get any linemen to the second level to help break one.

Yes, major college football coaches tend to be arrogant -- with the media, with some fans, with rival coaches, with the hired help, etc.

With top recruits, difference-makers, and the high school coaches who could influence them to sign with them? Not usually, at least not in my experience. To me, that's what made this column particularly interesting and telling.

It would be different if column was inconsistant with what anyone paying close attention to ND football had observed over past few years.

Column has a lot of validity.

My take was, yes, the world has turned upside-down, but generally if you're chasing the No. 1 recruit in the country, someone from a historically-strong recruiting area for ND, the head coach calls the recruit, not vice-versa.

Not saying it's right. But that's generally how it works in our neck of the woods, even though admittedly Microville Tech doesn't recruit the No. 1 guy in the country.

And watching ND, they do look slow. Their DBs are still trying to catch up with Chad Johnson and TJ Houshmandzadeh. ;)

Late to this, but I believe the crazy road-game stuff (ie, Washington St. in San Antonio) is partly so that NBC can get a prime-time game.

The priests have apparently become dead-set against any more night games in South Bend.

That was the last time he showed up to play. He's been a dog with fleas in the NFL.

They're also playing Arizona State at JerryWorld in a couple years too. They wanted to play Baylor but the Big 12 tv contract prevented it.

Those night games will get destroyed by the ABC night game.

I'm not talking about Weis' arrogance. (That was Teddy's point, not mine).
I'm talking about those in charge. Their arrogance. It is beyond the scope of the arrogance at any other athletic program.
How arrogant are the ND power brokers? They think they're too good for the most arrogant league in the land.
