I make up words all the time, but it's because dementia is setting in.

    It's not just you.

And, um, how do you pronounce it?

This is easily the dumbest, most non-sensical, unprofessional, title of a thread ever. That even the title is chock full of blathering stupidity only offers a preview of the long windedness typically associated with Peter Angelos on the night Cal Ripken broke Lou Gehrig's streak.

That is clearly explained in the link I provided, young man.

Don't feel bad. My first ex-wife used to tell her Alzheimer's-beset mother the same joke over and over and over because she knew she'd always get a laugh.

I just read the pronunciation guide to "pwned." My brain hurts.

    Thanks, UT.

    I don't know what to say...they don't like me...they really don't like me! Thank you all! :)

    Hyperbole, anyone?

In terms of 'professional' vs 'nonprofessional' thread titles, I'm guessing that thread titles regarding anal sex, menage a tois, etc. are exempted, yes?

The last person to attempt to lecture me here about professionalism was 21. To paraphrase BYH, that didn't end well. For her. Citations of 'porn star leg genes' and such quickly quashed any further, um, protestations.

At least my thread title referenced sports, the nominal raison d’etre of this board.

Unless it's now a board about sex, or random thoughts. If that's the case, the operators might want to rename it 'sexjournalists.com.'

The title of the thread has been changed in lieu of my buying a group baby rattle for some of the contributing posters to the thread.

I'm not sure how your publication works, but mine stresses staying on the 'cutting edge,' so as to not lose/draw in younger readers. Hence, 'Pwned,' an on-the-come cultural reference. Of course, some newspapers are dying out, as they can't adjust to changing times and changing trends, such as newer words and memes.

I sure hope that's not the case for your publication.

    It's not for mine.

Hence, 'Pwned.' Not only professional, but cutting-edge professional.

    :)

Whether it's culturally accepted or not, 'Pwned' is still going to get plenty of eye rolls from people.

And it's lazy to resort to popular vernacular when you could be better spoken and well read, instead.

Maybe this is a reason why the business is in the state it is in. ::)

More reaction to the nationally-witnessed annihilation of the Kobes:

    - Deadspin weighs in on the possibilities of a Jesus-Kobe tandem,
following Phil Jackson's recent comments (only one problem, guys:
Kobe = Jesus, so would he first be cloned before the partnership?). No
word on whether The Savior would be shipped to Miami if He
decided He wants to play the '2,' or if He proved insufficiently
deferential to Ko'Bowe -- [2nd item in the piece]:

    - InsideHoops.com approaches the Lakers chalked outline from an Austin
Powers, 'lost mojo' perspective. They also mention the dreaded 'Q' verb:

    http://www.insidehoops.com/mojo-lakers-ktla-031307.shtml

    - The San Bernardino Sun quotes Luke Walton taking some
thinly-disguised shots at the All-Star MVP with respect to the Lakers'
offense. Walton also says that the team is not committed to
    playing defense at the moment:

More reaction as sources provide, and time permits. :)
