Tell me something that's good about being single

But, don't you find that married men sometimes can be the most engaging when you go with them? (And, I mean happily married guys, not guys looking to cheat.)

They can engage in a little harmless flirting, precisely because they're not nervous or actually looking to take home the waitress/bartender/girl at the next table.

And, if a single guy can channel that attitude, they'll be a lot more successful.

Oh, indeed they can. If they can pull it off without self-consciousness, they're 3/4 of the way home.

Yes. But being single is a thousand times better than being in the wrong relationship. So that's something good about being single. Just wanted to post simply in response to the title request.

I agree with jlee, the best thing about being single is not being in the wrong relationship. Stay that way until you find the right one. I know this firsthand. Once you find the right one, it's amazing. (Well, most of the time).

As someone who's never been married, I'll echo the sentiments on having absolute control over meal-bed-bath times, remote control, ect.

The big downside for me is not having someone to handle some of the things on the homefront (like a working wife/mother is going to have any more free time than I do).

I spent seven hours last night doing 18 loads of laundry. The laundry room at my apartment complex has eight washers and eight dryers. At one point, I had all 16 machines loaded.

The bright side of that is I have so many clothes that I can get away with doing laundry on a quarterly basis.

Eighteen loads of laundry? Are you Paris Hilton?

I'm not entirely sure I've done 18 loads of laundry all year.

    That's a shitton of laundry.

Yes, and the fun thing is, some of it moved prior to washing. ;)

I had the exact same reaction. I'm a girl and I only have 3-5 total loads of clothing.

I have way more than 18 total loads of clothing, but I could never imagine having to do that many all at once.

OK, since laundry came up. .. and this relates to being single/couple. ...

Thing I had to get used to is my girlfriend's weird laundry habits. When I used to do just my own laundry, everything basically got tossed in at once. Warm or hot water wash. Everything gets thrown into the dryer. Screw delicates. And I am not separating colors unless it is brand new and so dripping in dye I know it is going to turn my clothes red.

Her? No. Everything has special instructions. Some things get prewashed by hand first. Some stuff in cold water only. A lot of stuff gets hung dry instead of put in the dryer.

So when I do both our laundry, all of a sudden it has become this time-exhaustive activity that makes smoke come out of my ears. And I just don't have the time in my life to turn laundry into rocket science, but now I have to.
