It is always family when the company wants you to make some sacrifice but it is a business when they want to lay you off.

I know Chip. He's a good dude and has been at the Tennessean in a lot of different roles there. Been good on all of them.

Has to be a salary dump. What a shitty, shitty business.

Bruce Dobie? He's aiiight, as folks around here might say, but what Nashville really needs is its version of Jeff Bezos to rise up.

Who the hell is going to cover the Preds or, for that matter, the high schools.

And I feel awful for Mo, who I consider a friend.

No matter how much you love this shitty, shitty business, it will never love you back.

Storify fan tweets and FB posts with a few sprinkles of Instagrams and videos!

    Talk about a story!

    For readers, by readers.

I would say they'll go younger and cheaper, but Josh is right around 30 and worked for Gannett, so he couldn't have been making that much money.

I was told by a sports staff member that John Glennon was let go. Now I am told by another – who's in a position to know – that is not so. I apologize for putting that out there, but I can point you to several social media posts that said he had been - and one of the writers who was let go told me the same before I said anything here.

There's a great deal of confusion in the newsroom, partly because nobody knows what anybody else's job is among the group that's been offered. But to the extent I have contributed to that confusion externally, I again apologize.

I haven't stepped foot in 1100 Broadway in 20 years but I feel like I know Mo, Chip and John on a first-name basis. No one of the 20 or so people in my family in and around 37215 subscribe to the Tennessean anymore, so perhaps I shouldn't be surprised to see these great reporters leave. But, damn, what the hell is the Tennessean going to offer? It's running out of archived photo sets from 40 years ago it can collect and use as clickbait, and there are only so many pre-Swan Ball dinners hosted in Belle Meade every season!

It's got Climer writing gamers now, so who knows what the hell is next.
