It wouldn't be more, it would probably be mostly the same, or maybe a little less.

The NCAA would no longer be going after every kid who accepts a free beer at the bar or a free hamburger. Rather, anyone who is registered can give money or gifts. I suggested anything over $100. Maybe make it $1,000, because there aren't that many people who can afford to fork over that much.

Only thing the NCAA would have to worry about is if the giver isn't registered. They're already trying to stop those guys anyways.

Exactly. It isn't adding more for the NCAA to regulate. It would be changing what is regulated. Will things slip through? Absolutely, but no more than slips through now.

    Stipends won't stop cheating.

But if players can get whatever they want, it won't be cheating anymore.

With all of the players being sent or kept home from various bowl games for various reasons, I figure Oregon and Auburn won't have any violations of team rules or academic issues (at least from the starters).

I will lost a lot of respect for Tressel if he plays those kids in the Sugar Bowl.

    Kids sold their private property.
Didn't sell to an agent, just some dude.
The only problem is the NCAA busting the players on this.

At least that is the O- State spin. Regardless - they still broke an NCAA rule.

Yes, and I got a parking ticket once.

    OK, actually more than once.

I know there's precedent with the Georgia receiver, but I just really don't have any problem with what they did.

Don't get me wrong, I'd bet the house that in the last couple years Pryor has gotten a lot more than a couple grand for his jersey and ring, but if that's all they have on him suspend him until he pays the money back.

I would have a lot less of a problem with this punishment if the whole Newton investigation wasn't (in my opinion) swept under the rug.

Boom has a point. While it may not be a great rule, and the rules of the NCAA aren't equally enforced, they are still rules.
