Saban doesn't yank their scholarships. He discovers a career-ending injury that allows them to stay on scholly.

As for the SUV he borrowed in 2008, Pryor said, “I wanted advice from some of my family and friends I trusted to see if it would be a good vehicle for me to maybe buy.”

    It happens all the time!!

Wetzel is great. The whole thing is a sham.

This is a brilliant critique of the systemic injustice of NFL's minor leagues. And, from a "school of column-writing" standpoint, I love how Wetzel loads up his columns with facts that provide a foundation for his opinion. It's ironic that a firm grasp of the facts is always the thing that makes a great opinion column.

Beautiful, now if only someone cared enough about this hypocrisy to do something about it.

How about Cuban putting his half a billion towards a real football minor league without the hypocrisy? (Of course no way, how are the minors going to compare with the adulation of those in the "Big House" and "The Swamp" along with the, ahem benfits of being BMOC?)

Ridiculous that the NFL is recognizing suspension. It's practical on Pryor's part but I would not accept.

everyone has been overreacting to this. listen, i have little doubt pryor's lawyers will be able to is overturned if they care. but i think they realize it's best for them not to be the ones to wage the fight, 'cause it's not really going to cost their client anything.

pryor is going to be hard-pressed to even make the 53-man roster of the team that selects him. assuming someone does take him. that team will probably assure him he'll be on the roster but it will be deep, deep, DEEP into the season to be activated for a game -- and it still remains to be seen what position he's drafted to play. whether it be qb or wr or db, the guy's a project who will need time. if he's on the roster but inactive for the first five games, does that satisfy the 'suspension'? i'm sure it does, so what's the big whoop?

pryor and his peeps must just be eager to get going with a team to begin his career. get out of the headlines. lay low, work at his craft, satisfy his coaches that he's not a character-challenged problem child.

it's a 'know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em' deal. pryor's carrying an awful hand and he knows it. he's just relieved and ready to kiss goodell's ring to be allowed into the league this year.

What a shock. Raiders take Pryor in 3rd round of supplemental draft.

    Somewhere, JaMarcus Russell laughs.

He'd have been better off going to the CFL.
