    Think 100 percent cotton.
Barton Springs in Austin might cool you off, or a detour to Wimberley and the Blanco River northeast of San Antonio and southwest of Austin off I-35.

    Why yes. Yes, I do.

Sam's Burger Joint off Broadway just north of town. About a block away is the Josephine St. Cafe and another right beside it that I can't remember. All three are top notch, though completely different atmospheres. Sam's is a hole in the wall, live music and poetry joint. Best hamburgers around. Josephine is the doctor/lawyer after work hangout. Great country fried steak. The other place is a little more ritzy. All are good.

    Here's my pro-tip: http://www.texaswinetrail.com/index.html

The drive from Dallas to Houston...
Right up there with PCH near Big Sur, 89A from Flagstaff to Sedona, the I80 through the Rockies and the Newfound Gap through the Smokies

Hey, none of those drives has a 65-foot-high Sam Houston statue. :D
