It's kind of sad that some schools look past Leach because they don't think he'd be "a good match" for their alums and boosters. I understand he doesn't carry "the pedigree" of other coaches, he's not "smooth," he won't be confused for a male model anytime soon, he never played in college, but the guy wins.

 

A good friend of mine used to be a bartender at one of Leach's favorite bars in Lubbock. Not a day goes by that the dude doesn't get slobber-knocked.

 

Mike Leach could lead my school ANYTIME.

He doesn't come across as the least bit pretentious. And that's badly needed, given how self-important too many of these coaches have made themselves.
