Is Sandy Hook a bigger tragedy than Hiroshima?

Tell you what, when you can walk into a 7-11 and buy a nuke and a bottle of Thunderbird at the same time get back to us with your completely fucking useless comparison.

Are handguns more dangerous than assault rifles? You can buy both legally. Way more people die from handguns each year.

None of which is relevant to my correct point about drunk driving and texting while driving.

This thread is filled with anecdotes about how texting while driving is at epidemic proportions. And then, when you point out how there are 10,000 DUI deaths and only 3,000 distracted driving deaths, suddenly the claim becomes that the portion of those texting while driving is almost non-existent. And yet we need a special law for it. Funny how that works, huh?

    Shocking, really.

Tony, wouldn't a law specifically addressing texting and driving actually take discretion out of the hands of untrusted government prosecutors and bureaucrats?

Less often than drinking and driving equals almost non-existent? Only in the very special mind of old_tony, folks. And I don't mean the good kind of special.

Straight from A_QB's SportsJournalists.com playbook for what to do when he is getting his ass kicked in a discussion. Cling to a smaller point and argue it to death, even if he is wrong about that, too.

Why is this an issue? I thought all we cared about was saving lives.

BTW, speaking of pesky facts again, you're more likely to die in a non-boating-related drowning than you are to be killed by a texting driver.
