The AL is out of whack. Eleven of 15 teams have winning records. The A's are 26 1/2 games back of the #FirstPlaceTexasRangers, but that doesn't explain it all. Is the AL that much better than the NL in interleague?

The AL went 5-2 in interleague today to improve to 119-112 against the NL this year (props to Baseball Reference, which updates the interleague standings daily). The AL has outscored the NL by 63 runs...a decent amount, but nothing a good week by the NL can't wipe out. I think the biggest difference is the Royals suck almost as bad as the A's except they're actually not trying to suck (as much as the Royals can try not to suck, anyway). The AL is 35-8 against the A's and 26-10 against the Royals. That's 61-18, which is a .772 winning percentage, which is a 125-win pace! And that's how everyone with a pulse has a winning record (with the Tigers of all teams stirring as well).

Meanwhile, Ohtani went 1-for-12 this weekend as Miami pulled off a sweep at Anaheim.

He's pulling off pitches or lunging at them, just like he was doing before he learned how to hit. Maybe some time in the minors would help him.

I clicked the link and went to the YouTube link on the page. There are 62 people watching. Comments are turned off because of course they are. If I'm at the right link, they are burying the public hearing on the stadium after all sorts of miscellaneous minutiae.

Royals (!) throwing a perfect game at the Cardinals through seven. Neither team has been involved in a perfecto before. Royals lead 3-0.

Cough up that stadium money. Then you’ll get a Memorial Day game.
