It’s why I’m critical too. But I guess having grown up in the midst of a 41-year run without a postseason appearance (coupled with the Browns’ spectacular awfulness), I still have a little PTSD and accept competence in the absence of striving for greatness. On top of that, this group has really been fun to watch for a couple years now. I’ll take a little less winning with the way they play the game as individuals. I know that’s cornball and all, but it is what it is. As someone who started playing baseball at about the age of 2, I love watching guys who love playing the game. There aren’t as many of them out there as you would think.

This post nails it pretty well. While two runs will never get it done, today was another example. Bibee did decent enough, then the relief pitcher (Sandlin?) comes in and gives up a game-deciding home run on the first pitch he throws. It’s uncanny how bad the bullpen has been this year as a whole with mostly the same guys. Clase alone has kept them from being three games ahead of the twins.

Taking that a step further, Francona has lost a step or two. His loyalty to certain people in certain roles is very annoying. Rosario and Straw were chief among them. And he has cost them a handful of games this year, too, by sticking to guns that clearly weren’t shooting straight (yet Karinchak has been exiled).

To the shock of no one, the Yankees are liars. Also, maybe German just wanted to be like everyone else in the perfect game club.

Especially when two hours earlier, Boone said German was healthy

Today's ballplayers are soft. Pete Alexander died in 1950 and he still hasn't sobered up yet.

(Seriously, if anybody has a substance issue, they need to seek help. Good for German for at least recognizing that fact.)

George Springer ends an 0-for-35 skid with an RBI single. I have to say, I felt a little good for him. Too solid a player to go through that.

With two more runs tonight, the Cubs will break their record for runs scored over two games. Record is 35. Reds looking like a Little League team from upper Minnesota.

My response when seeing it: Did the Marlins forget to read his contract and see he has a $17 million player option?

What a colossal mistake for a franchise that can’t afford to be giving league average hitters $17 million.

I was against Bell’s signing in Cleveland because of that option.

Except for the part where they were up 3-1 in the World Series.

    They got there. And choked.

Ownership is a much bigger problem than management in Cleveland.

    They didn't choke. A world-class douchebag flew a drone.

I wish he had flown it into his face in hindsight.
