Are football games three hours b/c of wall-to-wall action? Are basketball games 2 1/2+ hours b/c of wall-to-wall action? Nobody in the NFL or NBA is trying to overhaul games overnight b/c of their dreadfully dull pace. Because those people actually like, or pretend to like, the sports they run.

The Tigers couldn't beat a good high school team right now. As soon as their pitching gives up any runs, they're going to lose. They could make a junkballer look like the second coming of Cy Young.

Joey Wentz pitched his butt off but it just doesn't matter. The Rays hit any mistakes and once they scored, this one was over. Tampa Bay could have scored 20 runs yesterday with all the runners they stranded. They're a great team but the Tigers are going to make anybody look great.

They have no ability to put good swings together, let alone any good swings today. Riley Greene's infield single was a routine ground ball to first that he beat out because the pitcher got there late.

And it's a good thing their next series is in Houston against the defending World Series champs. Look out, 0-21 Orioles. Honestly, the 2003 119-loss team had more pride than this. And this is seven consecutive seasons where the Tigers have been completely clueless out of the gate. They implode every April because Javy Baez is the only guy in the starting lineup who could make another team, and that's damning with faint praise.

Hey, you have to get your enjoyment where you can
Wentz pitched good and Nick Maton has a modified Dick McAuliffe hitting stance
Glad I didn’t go to the Trop
I’ll go to Comerica in the summer

You mean the 2-hour, 15-minute games we watched growing up?

    You betcha.

If we're gonna turn back the clock, let's go all in. Posts instead of bases. The batter can request where he wants the pitcher to throw the ball. Fielders wearing gloves like you use when working in the garden. And bring back stinging/soaking baserunners.

NFL and NBA games are not any longer now than they've been for generations.

Last year's Game 6 of the NBA Finals was 2:20.

College football IS implementing some changes to shorten the games.

    https://www.usatoday.com/story/spor...s-aim-shorten-games-reduce-plays/11390489002/

But baseball's changes do not reduce ANY action. It's still 3 strikes, 4 balls, 9 (or more) innings and 27 outs per side. You're not being shortchanged anything . . . unless you just have to go grab a $5 cup of horse piss, in which case you can still watch the game on TV, because TVs are at every concession stand.

Orioles' rotation is still going to be a major problem, maybe even worse than last year. Cole Irvin as your No. 3 is not a good look, and Grayson Rodriguez couldn't even stick with the big club out of camp.

Cardinals beat the Blue Jays 9-4 today in 2:29. That’s more like it.

Scored 23 runs in three games and lost two of 'em. Maybe pitching in general is the problem.

I'm sure he'll magically become ready as soon as his super-two status evaporates!
