So you're saying the Tigers still have a chance?

More than the Yankees, Angels, or Cardinals. That should be something to hang your hat on!

By the way, Tarik Skubal just got absolutely nailed on the hip with a line drive. He is, however, back up and throwing.

Lodolo dealt setback on road back from injury

So much for the Reds' plan to rely on the returns of Hunter Greene and Nick Lodolo. The Jays lit up Greene in his return and Lodolo has another stress reaction in his leg, so his season is probably over.

Given how well they've done in that dogass division (25-15), I honestly thought they were closer to first place in that dogass division. If they were just .500 against everyone else, theyd be right there. Alas that's probably enough to keep A.J. Hinch employed another year.

Flaherty scratched for the Orioles tonight, Kremer will start in his place. Austin Voth comes off the 60-day DL, and Baumann -- who gave up a two-run jack in the 10th on the first pitch last night -- goes to Norfolk. Lots of crying from O's fans about not leaving Bautista out for the 10th in a tie game last night, but I side with Hyde. I'd be very careful about the amount of two-inning stints he gives Bautista, especially when another clean inning only gets them to the bottom of the 10th tied. Different scenario had they been on the road.

Anonymity being a relative thing, I can see that. On the other hand, there is the lure of playing for a better organization and contending for a World Series championship every year.

Shohei gets 4 outs and is pulled with an injury. In the first, he struck out 2 and hit a 2-run homer. Angels need as least 50 more outs in the doubleheader.

ADD: He is also pulled from the batting order in the third. Announcement is arm fatigue. That is why he missed his last start, arm fatigue (or so they said). He has been plagued this season by blisters and finger cramps.

I sure hope this isn't the beginning of the end for his two-way exploits. It's been fun to see.

If it is, take about $20M off the yearly price tag.

White Sox did their best Oakland A's impression today, with maybe a couple thousand people in the stands for the getaway day game against Seattle.

They had their usual bullpen meltdown, too, blowing a 3-1 lead in the ninth inning.

BUT ... a two-out RBI from (EDIT) Andrew Benintendi tied it, and a rundown throw that bounced off Tim Anderson's helmet allowed the ChiSox to salvage a 10-inning win over the M's.

That's the kind of rally they'll love next year in Nashville!

EDIT: Thanks to Baron for noticing a placekicker's name in this post!

He doesn't do a lot of interviews and certainly isn't going to reveal his hand in any interviews he conducts, so we're all probably just running in place here re: trying to figure out what Ohtani might do. But there is some conjecture he isn't interested in a big market. He's been terrible at Yankee Stadium (hitting .130 w/a 27.00 ERA in a very, Very, VERY small sample size) and while the Dodgers are in his home city, they're The Franchise in MLB with Yankees-like expectations. The Angels are an all-time stinker of a franchise (one World Series appearance in 60-plus years is hard to do, hello White Sox) so there aren't a lot of expectations. But leading them to a title would further enhance his legacy. The Angels have gotten guys to stay (Jered Weaver isn't Ohtani, but he passed up free agency to sign long-term) and Arte could be like there's no fucking way I'm getting outbid. Will be very intriguing either way.
