I bet they'll couch it in "We wanted the players involved to be able to play in the postseason if they choose, and they couldn't do that here" rhetoric.

Matt Moore and Hunter Renfroe should get picked up by somebody.

So Trout and Ohtani have to be 1-2-3-Cancun by now, right?

Being placed on waivers isn't the same as designated for assignment, so I assume any one not claimed stays. Renfroe and Grichuk are both in tonight's lineup.

None of them are prohibitively expensive for a playoff contender. Not even Giolito, since it'd be prorated.

It’s like a fantasy team owner getting mad at the league and dumping everyone.

Giolito has had 2 good starts in about 7 or 8 with the Angels (10 homers in 31 innings). Moore had been their best set-up reliever this season but has sucked in three of the last four. Renfroe is batting .239 and hasn't had a hit (or a meaningful hit) in about 6 weeks. Grichuk, who I have never liked, is average at best, but not clutch. Lopez had been good, but has gone wild, walking three in a row in the bottom of the ninth in the loss to the Mets.

I’d take Renfroe back on the Brewers.
