There is more to evaluating a minor leaguer than raw numbers. Jones was a top-100 prospect in the minors. Benito is not. The difference is the upside scouts saw at the time for one and now for the other. They thought there was more power upside in Jones.

After the Brewers blew a 2-run lead in the top of the 8th to fall behind by 2, Alec Bohm returned the favor …

The Brewers have had a horseshoe shoved up their collective asses for a month. Except at Wrigley, of course.

Also, you have to factor in age relative to the league and the league itself. Some leagues have higher offensive levels m

The Reds must've borrowed that horseshoe from the Brewers the past two nights.

To start extra innings, four consecutive Guardians hitters struck out by chasing pitches in the dirt. Finally, somebody earned a walk. Then a game-tying hit. Then a routine fly ball on which the Rays' CF made the worst throw ever. Sac fly.
Facilitated by the Manfred Man rule.
There are some teams -- the Padres come to mind -- that confound you with how bad their record is when they seem to have so much talent. And then there are the Guardians, who seemingly have no business beating anybody but who are close to the .500 mark.

If nothing else, Cleveland has started to see Bo Naylor and Gabriel Arias show signs of what they can be. If management goes out and pays for a right fielder, they at some point move Bieber for a workable piece and McKenzie is healthy, they are favorites in that putrid division next year.

Under the radar ... the Orioles grabbed Jorge Lopez off waivers. Yeah, the same Jorge Lopez that caused such consternation when he was traded last year. He's been pretty bad this year and probably can only be used as a depth arm in the final month, but that's a pretty wild turn of events. Oh, and that Yennier Cano guy who was part of the trade has been pretty good.

The Cubs have put the first five runners on base to start an inning and first base coach Mike Napoli is holding three pairs of shin guards, two elbow pads and probably a couple Capri Suns.

I’m really sad Leslie Nelson isn’t living today. This is exactly what I’d expect from him if he did the Naked Gun baseball scene today.
