Merrill Kelly is not pleased about being taken out after fanning 8 Phils in five innings.

 

No but that 1 rep/team requirement still applies.

 

This is the 27th postseason series in Phillies' history. They've played a few deciding Game 5s, but never a Game 7.
That streak appears to be in peril.

 

Dave Revering actually posted a 1.8 WAR, according to bb-ref! (Langford, McCatty and Kingman were the top three. Geez, why anybody let Billy Martin ruin their arms, what a waste.)

 

Taijuan Walker is apparently not to be used unless the Phillies are up or down by 100 runs and/or if every other member of the staff develops leprosy.

One of the more misleading 16-win seasons in recent memory. Cannot remember a game in which he hasn't had to battle.

 

That's amazing. I'm rooting for the Phils (because I've got my Phils gear from my kid's LL team ) but to have two Gm 7s in the LCS would be awesome.

 

Granted, they only had four chances to do it in their first 100 years of existence. Still one of my favorite oddball stats, though.
I guess after the Eagles finally lost to the Jets all of these Philly oddities are in play.

 

Yeah but they've stunk to the heavens for most of that time. They won FOUR playoff games--FOUR!!!!--prior to finally winning it all in 1980.
