Gallen through six at only 72 pitches. This would be the first World Series no-hitter in ....

    One year.

Burkhardt sure isn't worried about jinxing it.

Eovaldi has been freaking Houdini all night. But his pitch count is getting up there and he'll be on a short leash in the seventh.

Seems like you would have paused the game, have the catcher go out after the no-no was broken - if only to get the pitcher to refocus. It would be easy to imagine Gallen "letting down" - or just losing concentration. Could have easily seen an HR instead of three straight hits. It works for the Rangers too, they suddenly don't feel he's unhittable or feel the pressure to get the first hit.

Johnny Murphy was a star closer for the Yankees on multiple pennant winners before he became the GM for the Miracle Mets. He died a few months after the Mets won the ‘69 WS.

Do love seeing a classic pickle rundown - also enjoyed seeing the catcher hold on to the mask until he spotted the fouls ball - then chucking it aside. The little things. Waiting for one of those short dribblers to the pitcher that somehow gets botched on the throw to first - you know, that drill that is a staple of first day Spring Training b-roll that always seems to get messed up at a crucial time in the World Series.
