Please, please let a guy named Maggi face Jesus Luzardo just once before he's sent back to AAA.

All I can say is, good for him. He was a good player at ASU, sort of in the Pedroia mode.

There's a guy who played at Microville Tech, Jamie Burke, spent about a decade in the minors, finally got to MLB to stay at 31 or 32, and hit over .300 his first two years of extended play. It took Rich Amaral forever to make it after UCLA, and he did just fine starting his MLB career after 30. Both of those guys were good enough to play MLB for about six or seven years before they finally broke through.

Same with another Microville guy, Kevin Gregg, got buried in the A's system before being rescued by Anaheim and beginning a solid MLB career.

Rare? Certainly. But it's not an exact science.

The Dodgers have four players on, just off or about to go on paternity leave -- Mookie Betts, Evan Phillips, Max Muncy and Brusdar Graterol. And Cody Bellinger's girlfriend was said to be "due any day" when he was in LA last week with the Cubs. That must have been a hell of a party around the All-Star break.

The Astros sent Yordan Alvarez home due to a neck injury that has been bothering him for about a week. Maybe they are being careful. Maybe that's very not good.

The first person who writes the headline “The gift of the Maggi” gets flogged.

Is it late September and he really should be back at school?

Meanwhile, Jackson Holliday was promoted to High-A Aberdeen today. He may look 12, but he's a-comin'.

The Orioles are 15-7 and have won seven in a row. My God, this has been a fun start.

Nothing happening in Atlanta as we start the 8th.

EDIT: Jean Segura, one-out single. You can blame me for jinxing it, I guess.
