After Dever’s HR made it 4-0, I thought the Sox were gonna cruise. It took all of one half inning from Chris Sale to disabuse me of that delusion. How can a guy go from striking out 11 in his last start vs. Minnesota to striking out 0 today versus the O’s? He seems truly lost. They pounded him and should actually have plated more and would have if not for good defense and bad luck on balls hit in play.

I like this Sox lineup; it’s got grit, resolve. But it’s starting pitching is completely unpredictable from one start to the next. But hey, it was nice to see us throw out one of your attempted base thieves after the O’s went 10-10 on the base paths in the opening series.

I like the Sox and I don't normally wish ill will on them, but expletive Chris Sale, a juvenile, dangerously angry Trumpist prick who richly deserves to give up many hits and many runs every time he takes the mound.

I hear ya, I despise everything about him; in particular, that he now sucks as much at pitching as he does at riding a bike.

It really depends on how Contreras and Oviedo pitch the rest of the way. They are key parts of that rotation. Bednar is a quality closer and Holderman has been very good in a set-up role. That said, they've got guys playing way over their heads right now, so I wouldn't go printing those playoff tickets just yet.

So is Scherzer pitching next Monday? Or will we see you next Tuesday or later, Max? (Asking for a friend's fantasy team whose weekly lineups go Tuesday-Monday.)

For some reason, until today, I didn't realize he was Matt Holliday's kid. Makes sense, but I just never made the connection.

Ha! Yeah, he is actually tied for the major league lead in holds with eight so far this season. :)

    A guy named Holderman?

Quick, any Homers out there still playing baseball?

Apparently Bryan Reynolds isn't heading to Cleveland.

Give the Pirates credit. They actually locked up a guy they pretty much had to sign. It isn't insane money, roughly $13.7 million per year over eight years, but that is progress. Sure, their payroll is still a joke. If they keep winning, I don't expect them to try to add help at the deadline as a team with such a small payroll should do, but at least this is some progress.
