It seems low for Reynolds, but it's not like they signed a superstar. This is a second or third-tier player in his age-28 season. They could have held him until he was 30, which would have made it very difficult for Reynolds to get a big contract. I think the team's fast start helped, too. They at least gave him the illusion that he could actually play for a winner in Pittsburgh.

I probably haven't seen a Pirates game since Andy van Slyke was playing for them, so I'm relying on you. You don't buy the start? I'm not saying that they'll win the pennant, but is this team legitimately better than what they've been since their Wild Card days?

The Orioles--who are already on a legitimate run--could really take it up a notch here. Two more against Boston, then four in Detroit and three in Kansas City. Then we'll see what Baltimore is made of. The next nine are three in Atlanta, three vs. Tampa and three vs. Pittsburgh.

If you had a May Pirates-O's series circled as a big one on your calendar, please take a bow.

I can't remember the last time I watched more than an inning or two of one of their games. Just from paying attention for fantasy baseball purposes, you probably know as much about them as I do. Reynolds is a very good player, but who else do you trust in that lineup? McCutchen is already coming back to his recent mediocrity after a fast start.

Keller could be legit. He was a top prospect and he has made some adjustments that seem to be working. I don't know much about Oviedo, but I have read good things. After that, the rotation gets shaky. The bullpen is very good, but no, I don't have a lot of faith in the rest.

Yeah, this is pretty filthy. And if the catcher can't catch it, chances are the bat isn't catching it, either.

I really like these Giants uniforms with the Golden Gate and fog. Creative!

I also like the Diamondbacks Serpientes uniform. I’m gonna get a T-shirt.

    And I’m a Cardinals fan.

As a long-suffering Pirates fan, the thing about this team is they are fun to watch. They are upbeat and seem to be enjoying themselves. Easy to do when they’re winning, I know. Hopefully it continues.

I read that the White Sox close up the 500-level seats on low attendance days and let those ticketholders move down to the 100 level.

I love that and think the idea is long overdue. Only concern I have is the inevitable occasional brawl between fans who want the same seat.
