I guess, to be fair, that's not all that new. I looked up the early 1990s schedule to compare with the "Golden Era" of sorts and the only North American pre-Indy venue there that isn't on the circuit now was Phoenix, which IIRC, developed a habit of injuring IndyCar drivers. Also, Indy used to be a three-weekend affair, I suppose.

Because all those shitty-ass games in October are just so compelling.

Not the point and you know that.

If there’s minimal eyeballs on the sport because everyone is watching football, bad or not, then there’s minimal eyeballs on the sponsors who largely fund the sport.

Hence finishing the season before football kicks into gear.

Just watched a loose Michelin rolling around in the dark at Le Mans, and how's your evening going?

They're all on slicks, and rain just arrived at Circuit de la Sarthe. All three safety cars are out.

Someone asked what they do when the safety car needs to pit for fuel and tires. I think they were joking but that's not a good sign.

Kind of wish I could watch the Sicko's Hours at Le Mans, but I don't have Max and I'm subscribed to too many streaming services as it is.

I’ve watched almost all 24 hours. Rooting hard against Ferrari.

Actively rooting for the GTP cars to beat the Ferraris and Toyotas.

I honestly don’t get the appeal of timed racing in 2024 other than the history of Le Mans, Daytona, and Sebring. The whole point used to be that the car could last. Modern cars don’t break.
I don’t see the point in 500 mile races either, especially if it all comes down to a three lap overtime.

For Indy folks/500 attendees ... Dave Calabro retiring after 32 years from Channel 13 but keeping his IMS announcer gig. Booooo.

How about that! Hey, fans! Who here thinks Dave Calabro drinks heavily during the race, since he sounds more inebriated with every unconnected thought? And Ed Carpenter is up to 16th place!
