Many of us are of a certain age who remember it being a thing to remove your tailgate and replace it with a mesh netting to improve fuel milage.
I never did that but do remember dropping it to go up and down I-26. I don't recall it mattering much and haven't worried about it since the early '90s.

Be prepared to watch a Daytona 500 replay on Fox this afternoon. The forecast is for moderate rain pretty much through 9 p.m. It'd be progressive of NASCAR to postpone early and save people the $45 parking lot fee and an afternoon of sitting in wet clothes. But that would be totally incomprehensible for NASCAR and the Frances, who need that additional money spent on concessions and collectibles.

Daytona 500 postponed until 4 p.m. ET Monday.

(I'm certain Brian Z. is still hung over, so Lesa and her son must have made the decision.)

At least 20 or so years ago when they were still in circulation, one of the more popular weekend drag strip vehicles was a Chevy S-10 pickup. Geek up the engine and those things could blow away almost anything on a short sprint.

Had a buddy who put a 350 in a Chevy Luv stepside. Left the stock rear end on. It went 0-to-60 justlikethat and had a top speed of about 62. Beautiful sound when it wound up, though.

The S-10 had a Cyclone variant back in the day that a local speed shop had going for world land speed records.

As for me, I blew a Chevy S-10 engine going 105 on the German Autobahn. The AAFES mechanic put the wrong spark plugs in it and it knocked a hole in the piston. Long story short, had to eat the cost for a short block. But got a couple of good lads to assemble a new block for free and get me back on the road in about a week after the short block came in!

How great is it that the lawyer's firm has Winston in its name.

The Frances should thank their lucky stars that the Saudis aren't interested in stock car racing.

Brian’s not involved with the family business. Jim France, Little Bill’s brother, runs NASCAR.

Would the response from NASCAR's fans and sponsors to any PIF involvement be akin to that of the golf kerfluffle?

Could a spinoff driving circuit financed by PIF work? Would they have tracks? Would anyone care that NASCAR didn't sanction them, thus the "it ain't a real champeenship!" (also like LIV-PGA).
