This hit at the goal line kept the score 7-0, which is how the game ended. I thought the kid making the hit was the delicate type -- he was an 8-time individual state track champ -- and wouldn't put his nose to the grindstone. But this hit proved me wrong.

OK, I'd like some input on this one. Kid scored a golden goal in OT. I was on the ground shooting and didn't get his head in the pic, but really liked the shot of leg extended, ball jutting toward the goal and some of the faces. I ran it as is on B1, mostly because it was the winning goal.

I'd like to know how many here would've run the shot without the kid's head.

She scored 11 seconds into the state championship game, and that was the only goal of the game.

Local team plays games in Quechee, and there are always hot-air balloons that pass by during games. Went for the action/artsy look.

I got lucky on this shot. Team just won N.H. D-I title and these 4 guys stand next to each other during trophy ceremony. They combined to score 605 points in their 4 years on varsity. One is playing at Dartmouth, another at Wesleyan, another starts at Middlebury next year and the 4th will play D-I somewhere.

Xan - you do a fantastic job lighting your night football photos, better than a lot of full-time photogs do.

I love the shot of the goal line hit. A good peak-action shot from the "play of the game" should always be a goal, and you nailed it.

One suggestion on the ski jumping shot - get lower. The people in the background are really distracting to me, and if you get lower, you might be able to get them out of the shot. If you ever have a chance to experiment, try a rear-shutter sync (it's one of the flash options on the D100). I've seen some really cool ski jumping photos shot like that.

That link goes to a web page instead of to the actual photo. The link you want to use is http://i.pbase.com/g4/27/607527/2/60876299.jpg. On a Mac, do a ctrl click and click on view image to get that, and on PC, right click -> view image.
