At this morning's Junior Babe Ruth game a kid was wearing this belt and buckle. Def Leppard is his favorite band. He made it through an inning, but in his first at-bat the home-plate ump noticed the buckle and made the kid take the belt off.

He said, "I'm into Led Zeppelin, Motley Crue, Def Leppard, Skid Row ... everything in the 70s and 80s. I'm not one of those poser kids who just listens to Stairway to Heaven and says he's a Zeppelin fan."

You probably already know, but watch the backgrounds and blur it out more if you can with a lower fstop, the car in the background is annoying.

Fair enough. I was actually shooting with a smaller aperture than normal, trying to maximize usable DoF, but it's definitely too much, as the junk on the far side of the field is too noticeable.

    Good call.

First thing I noticed, too. I remember when I first started I had a pic like that. It's a great lesson too learn because you'll always be more aware of your surroundings in the future.

Xan, love your work too. The bubblegum kid is great. Overall though, the pics are a bit too pixelated for me. Do you sharpen a lot?

Thanks, FJ. Most of the time I take the mask off, at 1.5 radius and about 200 (whatever the other term is). I like harsher'esque photos because they produce better off the press.

So yes, I sharpen a lot. I'd like to be able to Photoshop my work with a PS7.0 or newer, but I'm stuck with 5.5, which, I don't think, enchances digital photos.

Nice shot, Xan. Way to look for detail.

The background elements, though, are too distracting.

How's the paper looking these days?

Thanks. Yeah, that shot is good for the moment, but I stood in the wrong place. Got some other better shots.

As for the paper ... owner said he wanted sports to go back to the way it was. Each paper is getting redesigned, but only one at a time, and ours is at least 6 months to a year away. He also didn't like the dateline on its own line. As JDV would say, Whatever. Last week's A1 looked sharp, and I had a little fun with the Entertainment front.

I might be going to south Florida soon.

Hmm.... I don't really have much of a comment on that. It's too bad that he didn't like it, because it was about 8,000 times better.

    Get outta there.
