I played against Katie in middle school. She's one person I'll turn on a WNBA game to watch.

That all the East starters were from the same two teams said all that needed to be said about all-star fan voting.

I didn't know the All-Star game was even this weekend until I saw the result the next day in the paper. Nice job of promotion there.

Then again, that doesn't mean I would have watched either.

I used to watch in the early years. My daughter played high school so we would watch. But in the last couple of seasons for sure, anytime I've just accidently passed by a game while surfing, the play is so poor I can't watch for more than a couple minutes. She doesn't keep up with it anymore either.

I have covered two WNBA games in the last year, and the level of play is good. It's enjoyable basketball, not the nightly traveling dunk contest that is the NBA.

    FYI:
There's a good one going on NBA channel (DirecTV)
San Antonio and Seattle Storm are in OT
Teams went to the last second 2 weeks ago here in SAnt.
Key Arena sort of hopping for this one tonight
For the SilverStars, Ruth Riley and Sophia Young each have 5 fouls, but have been productive throughout the game.

Taurasi can't get a call tonight and Indiana appears on its way to evening the WNBA Finals series at 1-1 vs. Phoenix.

Tamika Catchings was held to 8 in the Game 1 loss, but already has 15 thru 3 quarters for Indiana.

The Fever got the prescription -- more cowbell. (Sorry.)

Seriously, this year looked it was going to be the last for the Fever given the financial losses, but Herb Simon has developed a soft spot and thinks he might hang on. The attendance is up (not much) over last year, but the Simons historically have been very patient with losing money with their franchises. Well, Herb has it, what with all the malls, and the money he made financing "Porky's."

I always figured WNBA teams were loss leaders for their NBA franchises.

A niche sport should be happy averaging 7K a night, which is about what the Fever bring in (OK, "announced" and "actual" attendance are two different things). Niche & minor-league sports tend to have small audiences, but if they're expecting NBA-sized crowds, this league won't last much longer. There's a reason why Houston & some of the other early WNBA franchises are gone.

After three quarters, Indiana is in control of Phoenix.
The Fever already leads the WNBA Finals series at 2-1, and can win the best-of-5 and the title tonight on ESPN.

Helps to have Tamika Catchings on your team as head coach Lin Dunn seeks to bolster her career 500-plus wins mark as a college and pro head coach by adding a 2009 title to her cache.

Phoenix, with league MVP Diana Tarausi, has a 10-point lead with three mins. remaining.
Looks like there will be a Game 5 after all.

Tamika Catchings not winning WNBA MVP this year was one of the bad media voting decisions of all time.
