    1. I didn't realize anyone actually paid for WNBA tickets, let alone $40. I'd guess that most cities have tickets available for far, far less.
    2. How do you think the league should be marketed?

As I said, Swoopes was the only one I remembered, and that's just because she's my favorite player. I'm slept a lot, and had a lot of beer, in the past 10 or so years.

And yes, KJIM, people pay for WNBA tickets. I've done it more than once. Paid $75 once for a playoff game in Houston (OK, dad paid that much), but that was just because they were about 7 rows up from center court. The arena had close to 10,000 people there. I'm sure I'm the only one that paid though. ::) ::) ::)

I don't have a penis, but I will throb with excitement the day we stop trying to convince people that women's sports are equally as enjoyable as men's.

And some women's sports, like college volleyball for example, are actually more exciting/enjoyable than the men's version.

Tall girls in tight shorts are usually entertaining.

    yep.

anyone else out there get a bunch of form letters from "passionate WNBA fans"?

This was my favorite -- unfortunately for her, the fan deviated a bit too much from the script:

We're probably in the extreme minority here, running a whole WNBA preview page this morning.

We had excess space this morning in relation to what we had going on, certainly, but we also have four players from the area – including one former No. 1 pick - playing in the league.

We'll give it some limited attention this summer and probably try to get to a game where 3 of the 4 are playing (Chicago at Indiana, not a bad ride from here).

I'm just glad I have places besides the newspaper to get sports news sometimes. The WNBA is one of them. The attitudes of the men on here are pretty disappointing when it comes to women's sports. Shockingly, there are those who like it, and not all of them are women.

After today's preview capsules and preview story, it's consigned to briefs for the season.

When women's sports can draw crowds and create a buzz like its male counterparts, you will see a difference.
