    Sonofabitch.

I should have known better than to read this thread prior to watching the show.

Watched the end of it last night. Took it off the DVR five seconds later...

Why were none of the teams - except the first one - surprised when Phil told them to go back to the orphanage? Did the producers tell them first?

I thought the episode last night was a bit of a dud. Both my wife and I looked at each other and said "that was boring".

It seems some of the teams are trying too hard to be characters instead of racing, Marcus Pollard and snowboarders I am looking at you.

Yeah, you have to wonder about that. None of the teams had that quizzical, "What the hell are you talking about?" look.

The snowboarders remind me of the hippies from a few seasons back. Pretty mellow guys who - to this point - haven't been ragging on each other.

If the producers told them, wouldn't that violate the spirit of the show? The contestants would turn around right away before even getting to the mat.

More than likely they saw other teams going back in the direction of the orphanage and knew something was up, but went to the mat anyway to get official confirmation.

Yeah, maybe Phil told them and then reshot it for the show. Who knows, just seemed a little strange that everybody took it so calmly.

Yeah, now that I think about it, it was a little strange. There was no one member of a team blaming the other one for not reading or missing the sign. You gotta figure that had to have happened with at least one or two of them.

I could see them reshooting because seeing people complain about doing something nice for the orphanage would be painful

I'm sure there is extra footage on you tube of Ethan beating Phil with his backpack.
