The Amazing Race -- All-Purpose Thread

Discussion in 'Anything goes' started by BNWriter, Sep 28, 2012.

  1. Her team had probably been in the running to be named to the season.

Even on non All-star seasons I think they usually have a few extra teams ready to go and make a final cut-down right before they start.

This seems to be the prevailing theory.

My guess is they didn't find out about Bopper the night before. It was likely a week or so before they were set to leave. So she didn't drop everything and fly out in the span of 6 hours. She probably was on stand-by and had a few days to get out to LA.

It happened the night before he had to fly to LA, not the night before the taping. I don't know how long he was in LA (guessing a couple days). But there's Bopper's version of it.

    Pool update:

    IJAG -- Brenchel 29
bumpy -- Jet and Cord 26
Jay Ferrar -- Margie and Luke 16
Amy -- Dave and Connor 16
Inky -- Leo and Jamal 11
Huggy -- Flight Time and Big Easy 11
WolvEagle -- Jennifer and Caroline 10
Wenders -- John and Jessica 7
*MTM -- Bopper and Mallory 7
TigerVols -- Joey and Meghan 4
*BNWriter -- Natalie and Nadiya 1

    *team has been eliminated

Mark should be glad that he didn't race back in the days when you got all of your items taken away after a non-elimination leg.

Jennifer and Caroline would have been going home had they not flipped their hair and gotten the Express Pass. I do think it was an interesting strategy -- giving it to someone who, let's be honest, presents no real threat to them winning and now they know that they have the only Express Pass. Aside from the one in their hands, every other team has to earn their way.

They need to give the little girl who was creeping Flight Time out at the mall her own show. She was hilarious.

Is it just me or does this season have sucktastic written all over it? I mean, Margie and Luke AGAIN?!?! Brenchel AGAIN?!?! Come on! This has to be the most uninspired cast I've ever seen on this show. I'll admit I missed the premiere and I was so disenchanted after the first half hour of Sunday's show I wandered off to do something else, so maybe I haven't given the season a fair shot yet. Feel free to try and talk me down. But is anyone else disappointed?

There are so many people to dislike this season, but Luke all by himself may be enough to get me to stop watching.

I'm not happy with this season's cast. Love the Cowboys and the Globetrotters, but this is their third attempt. They aren't the only ones. There are some I'm glad are getting a second chance (Dave and Conner) but I would have preferred some others who weren't re-runs.

For instance, they could have had back Brook and Claire (the HSN hosts that are probably more famous for Brook taking a watermelon to the face) or Mel and Mike (Mike White is a Hollywood screenwriter).

I think an interesting Race would be if they could bring back teams that were eliminated either in the 1st or 2nd legs. Not the people who finished second overall, but the people who barely got to race and see how they do. Not to mention, there's very few people who get eliminated quickly that were on long enough to be really and truly annoying.

I hope they take a cue from Mike and Mallory and do a mixed-team race for the next all-stars. Have, say, Cord paired with Flight Time, Jet with Conner and Dave with Big Easy. Do that with all the teams and see what happens for one season.

I think this would be fun as well. Mix up a bunch of pairs who want to go. For instance, on the first All-Stars, they had Eric and Danielle racing together. They were originally members of two other teams who started dating after the Race. That was fun and enjoyable to see them because we hadn't already seen their dynamic.

How about a mid-race mix up?

Instead of an Express Pass or U Turn, let a team switch members from two other teams. What if Rachel was teamed with Luke and Brenden with Margie? Or split the Cowboys or Trotters and give them weaker teammates.
