If I'm going to get invested in a show, I'm going to keep watching it all the way through. That's probably my own flaw, but I prefer a show that isn't going to nosedive. I love House. It's one of my favorite shows ever. But the last three seasons were awful. I sat through them because I loved the characters, but they were so bad it was almost unwatchable even for me.

Why enjoy each bite of a steak when you can shove the entire thing in your mouth as fast as you can?

The struggle between great episodes and sustainability is no way comparable to how you eat a steak.

I just am not going to worry about a series' sustainability, especially not after half-dozen episodes of it's first season. The fact that something interesting happens every episode is a good thing, not a bad thing.
Deliver us from episodes that do nothing but 'set up the rest of the season nicely.'

Sorry, but I can't agree. The problem with awesome things happening every episode is that they start to lose their impact.

I really enjoy what the show has done so far. My problem lies in a speculative future because it seems they are backing themselves into corners and not giving us any time to appreciate those big moments.

They should do an episode midway through Season 2 where nothing happens. Make it seem like something crazy is about to happen, but it never does. Elizabeth hears a strange noise while doing the laundry and prepares for an attack, but it's just a cat out back rummaging through the garbage. Phillip has a shady seeming guy come into the office, but it turns out he's just booking a trip to Disneyland.

A bottle episode would serve this show well, too. Maybe a regular-ass day in the travel agency office.

Finally caught up on this. I like it. Thought the Reagan shooting ep was strong. Makes you wonder how close to real is this version of the spy game.

That I can see, Vers. Here's my question: How do we know what directions they can go? These corners they're backing themselves into may not be corners at all.

You're right. And that would be great. I'm not letting my hesitance toward the future prevent my enjoyment of the present.

Right now, it's my favorite show of 2013, though Mad Men and Louie likely will surpass it.

Nice line by Stan's wife tonight talking about the Jennings' marriage. "You can't judge a book by its cover, but you can judge a cover by its cover."

Of course their marriage is just a cover.
