Well, that was interesting. Did not see the "sex with informant angle" at all. Was surprised at the "beat the old KGB flame" portion until I put 2 and 2 together. Episodes seem to get stronger each week, but I might be biased.

I foresee Phillip using the ol' "I had to have sex with her so our fake rape looked like a real rape" excuse. Seen it a million times.

Really enjoying this. It is fast-paced, as many of y'all pointed out. Reminds me of Luther in that sense. Of course, they probably don't wanna be limited to 10 episodes in the first two seasons.

Grandma's "better luck next time" was one of the all-time great line deliveries.

Really? I thought that was the most predictable development in the whole show, ever since he got so mad when she said she sucked off the old guy from the Rezidentura. Been waiting for it for a few episodes now.

Yeah, this week I'm not going to complain and just talk about all the stuff that was awesome:

Granny and Elizabeth on the bench was freaking amazing. *This* is what I was talking about with pacing and not cramming everything into each week. They didn't like each other at first, now Elizabeth has a real grudge against her. Someday, Elizabeth is going to kill her and it's going to be awesome. But it didn't have to be this week or anything. Slow burn.

    Naked Russian chick! Would!

I was annoyed by the idea of dropping a lovechild son on Philip until the end, when she refused to give him a straight answer about whether he was real or not. That made it awesome.

I imagine Beeman has had some strange before in the line of undercover duty. That's part of the reason he went to Russian Chick (whose name I can never remember). He's already made his peace with doing it in the line of duty, and she's part of his duty, so it wasn't as far of an emotional leap. (Well, that's one of the reasons he went to her. The other should be obvious).

"Don't worry, I won't use this against you." Wonder what Stan really thought of that line.

"Did she already have you for breakfast?" Richard Thomas is doing a great job on this show.

I was 11 years old when all of this was supposed to be happening.
Was the term 'strange' in common parlance?

I didn't care for any of the plots except Mrs. Beeman coming unglued. The New York thing really didn't work for me.

Isn't that what Breaking Bad does nearly every episode?

I agree. He seems like such a cold, corporate bastard.

I don't think the son is real. I think she feared he would not be able to hit her so she made up the kid.
