I was way too busy being horrified by the thought of what that kid must have been feeling, but I have to think he's coming back as a loose end at some point. He got a full-on look at Phillip and I think there were other people in the hallway who saw him exiting the room.

OK I'm relieved. I thought I was a huge fan, and I was somewhat ashamed for not knowing stuff like that.

I am going to try to find the Season 1 finale somewhere today if I can, though. I need to remember where they left off.

For all the conflict The Jennings feel between their "American" children and their jobs, I can't recall a time when they actually chose the family over the Soviet Union.

That is my rooting interest. Not that the great USA defeats the Evil Empire, but that Mom and Dad choose their kids living with a positive future in the US versus any alternative

I remembered the colonel but not the gambler until I saw a little backstory reminder in a review.

    Speaking of reviews ...

has anyone discussed (and hopefully confirmed) that it was indeed Keri we saw, and not a double?

I didn't see a leap. It was a great show last year.
I think the critics were a little behind on this because people were initially concerned it would be anti-Soviet and pro-US, therefore aesthetically unlikeable.

FWIW, Vulture says it is the first 69 scene to be aired on basic cable:

Also the showrunners did an AMA on Reddit before the premiere (so unfortunately no one could ask if that was a body double or not):

Thanks for connecting the dots, Rick. Minor argument: It looked like a passing glance at Phillip in the hallway, not a "I can recognize his face" look. But I agree, think he comes back at some point, but not in a plot-twist role. Quirky question: How much did Maximiliano Hernández get paid for his flashback 15 seconds of airtime? Did he?
These are the things I think of.

    Doesn't Team Erica have a 69 scene?

Yeah, I agree he didn't recognize him. But I'm saying there may now be a man of Phillip's description wanted for triple murder.

It was a really good season opener for a show I like a lot. For those of us around at the time, it's great nostalgia.

F/X continues to push the bounds of what is acceptable on basic cable. This week went beyond what I ever expected. There were a couple of episodes of Sons of Anarchy this past year that did the same thing. At some point, are we going to have a 10 p.m. watershed where basic cable becomes HBO? I'm a firm believer in it's the parents' responsibility to not have their kids up late watching what they don't want them to see, and if something offends you, change the channel. I am a little surprised at where F/X has taken it, though.

I think from a strictly legal standpoint FX and other basic cable networks are not subject to FCC "indecency" guidelines the way NBC, ABC, FOX, CBS and other "over the air" networks are.

They are, however, subject to advertiser feedback, and thus can't go full "Skinemax."

But you're right in that it seems like only a matter of time.
