The Americans on FX

IIRC, submarine screw prop technology was a pretty important Russian spying coup in the 1980s IRL.

 

The kids, period, are a weak point.

I'm still hanging in there with the show, but, man, could The Americans have been really good as a black comedy.

 

The whole Walker family can burn in hell.

 

I assume that the gun that Martha is going to purchase will have Chekov-like qualities.

 

I think that is a very safe assumption, but unsafe for somebody in the show.

 

Not by Martha, but for some reason, I think that Paige will not survive the season, perhaps at the hands of one of her parents.

 

Elizabeth or Phillip will kill Paige? On purpose? What bleeping show are you watching?

 

A show where they may have to make a choice between their mission and their child -- which is exactly what these two episodes have been about. I don't think that it will happen by their hand, but it is obvious that Paige is going to discover something and perhaps make or threaten to make a stink about it.

 

Early season 1 Elizabeth I could buy offing Paige in the heat of the moment.

But it would never happen in a billion, kajillion years. It'd be a show-killer. Maybe by accident, but not on purpose.

 

I don't know who's going to kill whom with it, but that gun was mentioned for Chekov-esque reason, as you mentioned.

Could be something simple: Martha discovers she's in a sham marriage, has been duped into spying for the Soviets and kills herself.
Or tries to kill Phillip and gets killed by Phillip or Elizabeth.

Could be something very much more convoluted, but that gun's going off at some point.

 

he's going to frame Martha for killing John Boy

 

I still don't think they'd ever go there, but it was a lot easier to imagine Phillip killing Paige after the look he gave her tonight. Damn.
