boog is good. joe angel was absolutely horrible. and it's pronounced an-hell, and it sure was listening to him.

neil rogers still has his show, 10-2. fat-ass goldberg is on in the mornings. rogers always ripped on howard david when that idiot had a show on wqam. now david is doing poker on sirius or something like that.

There is honest criticism of one's work, and there is gratuitous piling on ("I know a desker who knows a couple of guys at The Herald who SWEAR DLB is an asshole!!!").

116 pages on "The Dwarf" also falls beyond "criticism of his work" and into the "piling on" category.

It's really not that hard to spot.

Um, just for the record, I'm not jealous of Dan. Happy where I'm at, but thanks for caring.

Um, just so you know, I actually don't care. Wasn't even referring to you in that post.

But since you brought it up, what exactly was the motivation for sharing that story in the first place? A lot of people have done shittier things to me than that, and I haven't yet felt the urge to share those on an industry-related Web site.

Funny, I thought one of the purposes of this Web site was the swapping of war stories.

    Sell your sanctimony somewhere else.

    I doubt it

I don't recall telling him he shouldn't have posted the story. Just wondering about the motivation.

I also think you're using the term sanctimony incorrectly, but hey ...

Sums up your posts pretty well, actually.

    Hypocritical.

So that means I've ripped other individuals on here? Show me the post.

I was referring to the feigned righteousness and high-mindedness. Hence the bolding.

    Have a nice day.

Believe me, it's not feigned. I really am that self-righteous. You too have a nice day.

I've only crossed paths with DLB once, after he tried to speak to Vladimir Guerrero in the visiting clubhouse at Dolphins Stadium, and may subsequently have written about him. I believe this was right around the time of the "I'm the only writer who speaks Spanish" stuff. I pointed out to him that, in fact, I did speak Spanish (thus debunking his theory). The problem was, Vlad didn't speak Spanish. By that I mean that 1) he barely spoke at all and 2) he spoke some kind of local Nizao Bani dialect chock-full of slang. Even his other Latino teammates barely understood him. Plus, he wore braces at the time. Didn't really register with DLB. I'm not even sure he even looked me in the eye during our brief conversation.

I would posit, though, that it speaks to what others' impressions of him are that he would have the cojones to presume that Jones would travel all the way to Australia to profile Ricky Williams, only to write at length about Dan LeBatard in said story. I didn't read it (sorry Jones), but I don't imagine DLB figured prominently, no matter how highly he may think of himself.

Perhaps he was worried that his personal party behaviour/habits while hanging with the big dogs would become public knowledge?

Don't know, just theorizing. As Jones said, I'm sure Ricky never lit up during all those nights the two spent together. And I'm absolutely positive Ricky never gave him, what's that little move called? A stinger? Never my thing, as you can obviously tell by my lack of proficiency in the etiquette, protocol and vernacular.
