    I was in the skepticism business -- I mean, newspaper business -- too long not to suspect LaVar set this us to put the spotlight more on him and less on his kids to relieve them of pressure. It's a Bobby Knight technique, do something crazy to steal the spotlight and take the pressure off the younguns.
    However, it is a fact of life that prominent people are targeted and bad guys know when they are not home.

    Really? Try it in Steven A. Smith's voice.

    I was a Knick fan at the draft the 1989 draft, but they had no first round pick. I remember that going into the #50 pick, I was thrilled that the player I wanted (I think an ACC guard - I thought it was Corchiani, Monroe or Crotty, but wikipedia says I have the year wrong - was still available. No one in the building had heard of Quinnet. Lots of boos in MSG.
