What happened with the Insanity workout? I was really disappointed with it...sort of a stupid program.

I lasted close to a month. Didn't see results but I wasn't exactly dedicated. Gonna get back into it very soon. If LABoxing doesn't kill me, Insanity will.

I find it impossible to be dedicated to Insanity, and I say that as someone who did not miss a single day of P90x. The program is too repetitive, and half the time you're probably anaerobic, unless you're an NFL receiver. It's doable...it's just not very creative or varied or comprehensive.

Now I'm doing my own hybrid combining p90x (which lacks enough cardio, imo) and Insanity (which lacks weights). Much happier this way.

    That makes sense.

And you're right about the repetitiveness. Also, Level One drills can go kick rocks.

I will say....the upper body weight training video for Insanity looks pretty damn good. I've skimmed through it, but have yet to try it.

169.5 this morning, so under 170 which was my initial goal.

The last 4 lbs were harder to lose than the first 10. But, part of that was that I went out to nice restaurants a few times. (Holy shit do I love good bread and butter. It's like crack. Please take it away.)

The blizzard also resulted in 48 hours of survival on chicken wings, beer, and pizza.

I've been in straight maintenance for awhile now. Haven't been working out regularly, but kept my diet pretty good and have stayed between 170 and 175.

But then the last three weeks, my fiancee has been cooking me a lot of white carbs for dinner. Baked stuffed shrimp. White pasta, instead of wheat. Pizza on regular dough instead of wheat, etc.

Got up to 179, briefly. But last week, I cut back my intake and only ate bad carbs a couple times and now I'm back down to 172, even though I had no time to get to the gym.

Diet really is the key. And I'm just thankful I didn't hit 180. My goal is to spend the rest of my natural life between 170 and 175, unless I bulk up on muscle.

Phew. Rough few weeks where I gained back about 10 pounds, according to the scale today. Got down to 149. Checked in at 161 this morning. Yikes. Got back on the treadmill today, so it'll be interesting to see how much is real weight and how much is just some water weight hanging around that will be gone after a couple days of cleansing.

Been getting in a few road miles lately because I want to get ready for a big 10-mile race in my area in midsummer. I'm really starting to hit my stride out on the road.

When I started working out and losing weight, all my running was on the treadmill. Now I'm getting out on the road more, where I don't have a machine to control my pace and I'm running so much faster than I really thought I could.

On the treadmill I usually maintain a pace between nine minutes and 9:30-minute miles. Out on the road, I've been killing it. Ran 5k on Friday in 23:03 and couldn't believe my eyes when I saw my stopwatch. Didn't think I could maintain a sub-8-minute mile pace for a full 5k.

I need to start getting in some longer runs, but I'm really happy with my progress so far, especially since I hadn't been working out consistently since early January.

Back down to 155 this morning. I figured, but very relieved. Man, you can pack on the water weight in a hurry when you have a few days of poor eating and low exercise.

First time in this thread. I lost about 25 pounds last year on Weight Watchers for Men and running...then I got pneumonia and the holidays came...so I gave about half of it away.

I'm back on the program - along with getting my gym membership again. I have a practical question - can you guys recommend a good site for a basic, 3-times-a-week weight program. It could be machines, free weights or body weight. One of my big problems at the gym is that I don't have a clue about what to do other than the cardio stuff - so I mainly stick to that. Without having a routine to follow (i.e. do three sets of 12 of these, followed by two sets of 10 of these), I tend to just get intimidated, do a few machines that look "interesting" and then bail.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.
