A very brief update, as one who posted sporadically a few years ago but has for the most part merely been an observer here.

I lost 50 lbs. three years ago, through daily cardio and eating low carbs. Gradually I let my guard down - started eating more and more high-calorie and high-carb foods, exercising less and less, and eventually I gained it all back.

After (kindly) being read the riot act by my doctor back in the summer, I re-joined Weight Watchers and started doing cardio at least 5 days a week, this time on an elliptical.

I gave up the fast food burgers and fries, and cheez whiz and chips, entirely and switched to soups, salads, fruits and vegetables as staples, and making better choices with other types of foods. For example: whole-grain bread instead of white bread, low-sugar or sugar-free sweets instead of sugary sweets, and skinless grilled chicken breast instead of fried hamburger.

Portion control has been a big key for me: if they're offering pizza at work, I take one slice, two at the max, and count them within my daily points. Paying attention to the serving sizes helps keep me from going out of control.

The Eat This Not That and Hungry Girl websites have been extremely helpful in regards to food choices.

I've also added strength training to my weekly routine, three days a week, about a half hour each time.

All in all, I've lost 75 pounds since the summer, hope to get down at least another 25, and hopefully another 15 lbs. on top of that.

Congrats, agateguy! That's terrific. I'm on WW too and am a big proponent of their program.

That's awesome Agate. Keep it going.

Last year at this time my jeans were a 54-32. Bought a new pair yesterday at size 44-30, same make and style.
At my biggest point I was up at 374 -- I am about 6'4" -- now I'm down around 300. Got a ways to go yet. But always a good feeling to buy smaller clothes.

    That is amazing!

    But I can't be alone when I think ... 6-foot-4 with a 30-inch inseam????

  8. At my biggest number, I was 371.6 although I'm pretty sure I went up 5-10 pounds in my first three months at my job.

I weighed myself yesterday morning and I'm down to 335.6, at least 36 pounds less than before.

Yeah, anyone who doubts the points system needs to look at my still fat but not as fat ass and check the numbers.

Was kind of treading water for a week, but dropped off about 4 pounds in two days after walking around as my paper's replacement photog.

    Thanks DW.

I know it doesn't make much sense to me either. When I was in high school and at 225 pounds I had a 36 inch inseam. I think the width of the pants, particularly in the butt and the thighs, some how affects the inside length, which would then make no sense why I dropped two inches when I went down a size this time around. I'm no tailor. I have no real clue how the inseam measurement really works, the one I'm more concerned with is the waist.

I'm 6-3 and my inseam is only 32-33. I have a longer torso where even when I've been skinnier I've had to wear a XXL. It really bothered me when I was young until it was explained to me when I was fitted for a tux. My arms are also the length of someone who is 6-6.

I'm guessing there's more room in the crotch of a larger waist size, so it hangs lower maybe?
