The Biggest LOOSER -- running weight loss thread

Discussion in 'Anything goes' started by The Big Ragu, Mar 18, 2010.

  1. After having a terrible blowout/Fantasy weekend (put on 6.5 pounds in two days...slightly impressive), I started walking and getting back on track.

Now officially down to 331.2 (maybe lower, haven't weighed in a few days), which is 40 pounds lighter than my highest weigh-in, and probably about 45-50 pounds lighter than Christmas-time.

It's a long road with ups and downs Waffle, keep it going.

I know my drop has been slightly stagnated the last few months since moving, but I have still managed to lose about 15 pounds and am down about 75 overall, got another 75 to go.

I'm five workouts into P90X and I'm surprisingly feeling pretty good. Monday's workout was brutal (arms and chest) and I was pretty sore for two days after that workout. But after that initial soreness, I felt a lot better.

Unfortunately, I'm still not able to do a few things in the videos, so I usually just jog in place or do some variation of what they're doing.

Good news is that I've dropped six pounds in five days. I know it's probably mostly water weight, but it's something. I've also followed the diet very strictly, including eating the needed vegetables (and those that know me know I don't do vegetables).

I like the workouts. I like the pacing. I'm glad I decided to finally take the plunge.

I need to get back to working out and losing weight. I was under 200 pounds a week or so ago, but put it back on and am now back between 205-210. Frustrating.

It's really frustrating when it feels like you can't give yourself the slightest break, or else you'll put on weight. I know the feeling. The good news is that you probably didn't really gain 5-10 pounds in a week. It's water weight or something like that. Temporary as long as you get back to working out and being disciplined with your diet (my biggest stumbling block).

You hit the nail on the head. I feel like if I don't want watch I eat and/or work out like 5-6 days a week, the weight just come right back. I'm going to re-commit to working out and hopefully the weight will stay off.

I ate a Saltine cracker last night and thought, "Well, I'm going to pay for that in the morning weigh-in."

My feelings exactly! I've had moments like that where I eat something or look at something and think, "How many miles am I going to have to run to take that off?" Not a good mindset to have, I think.

At my last physical, my doctor asked me what I was eating for breakfast and I said, "Coffee and my juice concoction" which is a fruit and veggie mix that would be healthy by almost any standards.

He said, "Replace the juice with three eggs." I said "Three egg whites?" and he said, "No, three eggs."

It's worked pretty well. I'm down about 10 in the last month without making any other real changes.

Breakfast is really tough for me. When I'm home later on some days, I toast up a bagel and that seems like a decent breakfast to have. Some protein. Some carbs. But when I'm out the door, for some reason I grab something at the gas station, and that usually ends up being a Rice Krispie treat or a donut or something. Breakfast on-the-go is my downfall, because it typically results in empty calories.
