You're grabbing the donut or Krispie Treat because the bagel rocked your sugar levels, and now you're craving more. Forget the bagel, it's a terrible breakfast. Get your morning carbs from high fiber whole grains and/or fruit (melon, not pineapple for example), make sure you balance it with long-lasting protein like eggs.

About the saltine: Won't affect your weight, but why do you even want a saltine?? You might as well eat a cookie, and if you want a cookie, you should have one. But that saltine is just a waste of a pointless chew.

Get a copy of the Glycemic Index, a great way to see sugar/carbs content.

I think I eat less at lunch as a result. I was just stunned that eating three whole eggs is better for losing weight than drinking juice made from kale, celery, blueberries, lemons etc...

Weighed last night and was 209.2. I want to get down to where I'm 205 or under on a consistent basis, maybe even sub-200. Which, for a 38-year-old guy who used to be almost 290, is pretty darn good. ;D

    How tall are you?

That's fantastic... Congrats on your success...

    That's great shape for 6-4.

The honest answer: Because it's there.

Thanks for the breakfast thoughts. That is going to probably be my No. 1 health priority this summer, my next step. Developing good breakfast habits. I have great workout habits, pretty good lunch and dinner habits. Breakfast is like the last frontier.

Thanks. It's been a lot of exercise and honestly, some of it wasn't even a conscious effort on my part. It sort of just happened. However, I'm pleased to be where I'm at and have vowed never to go back to where I was again. There are times now where I have to carry an extra 30-40 pounds in a rucksack or something and I'll be like, "How did I used to carry all this extra weight around?"

  9. Playing slow-pitch softball has been good for me, although at my current size I'm still a defensive liability wherever I go. haha

Afterwards, I will put my iPod on the arm sleeve, go to the walking trail at the local park, and walk 2 miles usually depending on how I'm feeling.

This morning I weighed in at 314.2, which is the lowest I've been since my sophomore year of high school. There's still a long way to go (my target is between 210-230, wherever it feels right), but I'm feeling good about it.

I had my bit of success when I tried jogging from outfield corner to outfield corner and made it, then waited a little and did it again. It wasn't necessarily a fast jog, and I never did learn how to breathe when running so that made it a little tougher, but it was one of those moments where I thought "Holy shit - I used to get winded doing stairs and now I can do some jogging semi-ok"

Progress, my friend, progress. Every journey begins with a single step and it sounds like you're doing well. Just remember it's a process and you'll get there,. Just keep at it.

It's funny, I see all my college friends in a few days, and I have to brace myself for the annual round of "You lost a shit load of weight, dude!" comments.

It's like, "Guys, this is just how I look now!"

So tough to change that perception as the chubby/fat guy with people who knew you before you got in shape. Plus, I think people are surprised when people actually keep off the weight from one year to the next.

I didn't get a chance to go to my 20-year high school reunion last fall and I'm sure I'd have gotten a ton of those comments, seeing as how I was so big in high school and relatively skinny now.
